How to Get Your Skin on Track After the Holidays

Think about all those Christmas cookies and heavy holiday meals you consumed this past holiday season. It’s easy to get off the “healthy eating track” during the holidays and all the sugar and fat can negatively effect your skin. Not to mention, all the travel and late nights leave your eyes looking and feeling fatigued. Luckily there are things that you can do to get your skin back to its natural flawless glow. Let’s look at a few easy to implement treatments and products:

Pick the Right Primer

Many primers have skin rejuvenating properties in them in addition to making it easier to put on your foundation. Check out this post on picking out the right primer.

Stay Hydrated

Staying hydrated inside and out is one of the best ways to get your skin back on track, especially in this dry winter weather. We recommend that you moisturize your skin twice per day and drink as much water as you can stand.

At Home Chemical Peel

As you know we are really into spa treatments that you can do at home. Dr. Dennis Gross offers a great peel to overhaul your complexion and leave your skin feeling tighter and brighter.

Vitamin C

Just like hydration, vitamin C can help your skin when you implement it inside and out. Take plenty of vitamin c tablets and consider a vitamin C serum like this one from Vichy. Results usually take about 2 weeks to make a noticeable difference.

Lyft

Our very own Lyft device rejuvenates skin through red, green and blue light therapy. Lyft is created to offer spa like results at home by increasing blood circulation to produce new skin cells and it balances skin tone just to name a few of the many benefits from this one device.

Exfoliate

Get rid of dead skin cells and reveal fresh skin with the right exfoliating regimen. The most affordable but quality option is St. Ives apricot scrub that can be found in any drug store. If you want something more top of the line, you might want to consider Fresh’s sugar face polish.

Take a Break from Alcohol

Family get togethers often mean an increase in drinking alcoholic beverages. No judgement here, but, after all the eggnog and wine, you might want to take a week off from drinking. Alcohol produces free radicals that can damage the skin and cause inflammation.

Pamper Your Red Tired Eyes

The holiday season can leave you tired for weeks. But, you can feel tired but not look tired with this at-home remedy. Soak cotton balls in water and put them in the freezer on wax paper. Lay down and put the chilled cotton balls over your eyes for 10 minutes. This will help reduce dark circles around your eyes and leave you looking a little peppier.

Address Breakouts

All the yummy junk food that you consumed during the holidays likely may have caused some break outs. If you’re looking for something budget friendly then consider Neutrogina’s oil free acne wash. If you want something a little more top of the line then consider one of Clinique’s acne solutions.

While you were having fun this holiday season, your skin probably wasn’t having a good time, but all those warm memories make it worth it. Just be sure to implement some of the “skin saving” strategies that we outlined above, and your skin will be back in shape in no time!
